Softball win streak snapped at 17

The New Prague Trojans’ hopes of an unbeaten regular season were dashed Thursday, May 11, when the Trojans lost a 2-0 game at Hutchinson. New Prague went into the game with a 17-0 record and were ranked No. 8 in Class AAAA.

Earlier in the week New Prague registered a 12-4 win over Delano.

The Trojans were scheduled to face Orono Tuesday, May 16, and will close out the regular season on Friday, May 19, when they host Waconia at 4:30 p.m.

New Prague enters the Section 1AAAA tournament next week, most likely with a No. 1 or No. 2 seed and a home game on Tuesday, May 23. The Trojans are the defending Section 1AAAA champions. Win or lose, the Trojans will play again on Thursday, May 25, at Todd Park in Austin in the double- elimination tournament.

Trojans 12, Del. Tigers 4 New Prague scored three runs in each of the first two innings on their way to a 12-4 win over Delano Tuesday, May 9.
