Sports Update - 3-5-07

New Prague High School's boys basketball team received the No. 4 seed in Section 1AAA and will host Austin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the New Prague Middle School gym. If New Prague wins Wednesday, the boys will play either No. 1 Northfield or No. 8 Faribault at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. Other first round games Wednesday have No. 6 Albert Lea at No. 3 Red Wing and No. 7 Waseca at No. 2 Winona. The winners of those games play at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Section 1AAA girls basketball semifinal game between New Prague and Red Wing will be played at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in Rochester. The game had been scheduled for Saturday, but the semifinals were moved because one of the quarterfinal games could not be played until that day due to the snowstorm in southeastern Minnesota. Northfield will face Albert Lea in the other semifinal game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
