Spring sports season waiting for good weather

The spring sports season at New Prague High School is underway, but the recurrent winter weather has kept the teams from getting outside so far this season.

The New Prague Times will publish its spring sports section next week. The eight-page section features stories on each of the seven sports teams offered this spring.

A brief summary of teams, coaches and schedules follows:

Adapted Softball: Coach Shelly Kriha takes over as head coach. The team's first game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Central Education Campus gym against Dakota United.

Baseball: Coach Tim Ledwein's team is scheduled to host Holy Angels Tuesday, April 8, and travel to Prior Lake Thursday, April 10.

Boys Golf: Coach Dan Puls' squad hosts Owatonna Monday, April 7, Faribault and Rosemount Wednesday, April 9, and the New Prague Invitational Friday, April 11.

Girls Golf: Coach Matt Shetka's team hosts Lakeville North and Owatonna Monday, April 7, and the New Prague Invitational Friday, April 11.

Softball: New coach Josh Thom's team plays at Holy Angels Tuesday, April 8, and hosts Prior Lake Thursday, April 10.

Boys Tennis: Weather permitting, coach Matt Duoos will host Albert Lea Thursday, April 3.

Track and Field: Boys coach Nick Meyer and girls coach Johnny Josephson take their squads to Mankato East Tuesday, April 8.
