St. John Lutheran Church welcomes new pastor

After a year with an interim pastor, and the work of a Call Committee and Transition Committee, the parish of St. John Lutheran Church has a new pastor.

Pastor Jason Pollington “Pastor Jason” started at St. John’s on Thursday, Sept. 1. He comes to the church after five years as pastor of Fairfield Lutheran Parish, that includes Grace and St. Paul Lutheran churches in Fairfield, Montana.

Pastor Jason grew up on farmland in Montana. He and his wife, Megan met at Luther Theological Seminary and were married at the start of their senior years, in September, 2010. They have two sons, Preston 4, and Michael, nine months.

Before Pastor Jason received his calling, he had held a few different occupations that he feels better prepared him for going into the ministry. He started out in law enforcement, graduating from a two-year program in Glendive, MT and then earned a four-year degree from Minot State University in North Dakota. He also taught as a substitute teacher for a while and then managed a restaurant with a small casino for several years in his home state.

Pastor Jason said the journey to Montgomery and Minnesota didn’t happen by chance. With one of his children approaching school age (Preston is four), and the opportunities for his wife, Megan to work, they decided to begin looking at different areas to relocate.

He added that being called to a congregation is something he doesn’t take lightly.
