Stanley Young, 85

Stanley E. Young, 85, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at the Central Health Care Center in Le Center.

Born March 27, 1923, in St. Paul, Stan was a son of Emmet and Mildred (Pan) Young. He graduated from Montgomery High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. After serving in the military, he became the Le Sueur County Veterans Service Officer. Stan married Marianne Daleiden on September 3, 1949, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He was a member of the Montgomery American Legion and VFW posts. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, volunteer work for veterans and was a baseball fan.

He is survived by his wife; children Patty (Doug) Folkert, Andover, Diane Young, Corvallis, OR and Tom (Margo) Young, New Prague; a brother John (Jean) Young, Libertyville, IL; two grandchildren Eric and Kurt (Cris) Young; and three great-grandchildren Trevor Knish and Nikaija and Kaiden Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. David Barrett officiating. Military honors were provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pallbearers were John Pan, Kurt Young, Eric Young, David Soukup, Doug Folkert and T.Y.

Visitation was held Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
