State Patrol releases names of crash victims

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of the drivers in a three-vehicle crash near New Prague on Saturday, July 13.

A story on the crash in the July 18 edition of The New Prague Times was not complete, as the state patrol did not furnish all of the information to the newspaper.

Drivers were Nolan Ryan Pumper, 29, of New Prague, John Edward Vandenheuvel, 24, of Lakeville and Paul Anthony Hanzel, 38, of New Prague.

According to the accident report, Vandenheuvel was westbound on 19 and stopped to make a turn. The Pumper vehicle rear-ended Vandenheuvel’s vehicle and pushed it into the path of Hanzel’s vehicle, which was eastbound.

Pumper’s pickup truck ended up in a field east of the crash site and caught fire. It was fully engulfed when the New Prague Fire Department arrived on the scene.

Pumper and Hanzel were both injured and transported to Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in New Prague for “non-life-threatening injuries.” All three vehicles were towed from the scene. newpraguetimes.com
