Still waiting...

It’s just two months before election day, the day we choose the next president of our nation.

So far, the election season has been an unusual one. Both sides seem intent on pointing out the flaws of the other candidate. While it’s true that there are many flaws to point out, so far, neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton have made a solid sound case on why they should be the next president.

In this column several months ago, we bemoaned the lack of substance in the campaign. We’re still waiting for the candidates to get serious. When are we going to get a sound, well thought out case for one candidate’s foreign policy, or economic agenda, or position on taxes, health care, unemployment or housing.

There are some serious issues facing the United States. But most of what we are getting is finger pointing, blaming, shaming and “gotcha” moments.

The first Presidential Debate is coming up on Monday, Sept. 26. Here’s hoping that the candidates stick to actual issues and answer them in a respectful manner. We need a serious discussion on the issue - not the circus we’ve been experiencing since before the primaries.
