Student responsible for shooting hoax issues apology

The student responsible for the 911 call on March 20 falsely reporting a shooting at New Prague Middle School has issued a public apology.

According to Marsh Hallberg, the boy's attorney, the 12-year-old boy's case in Scott County Juvenile Court has been resolved. Because he is a minor, the outcome of the case has not been released. However the boy and his family have both issued apologies to those affected by the false report.

Hallberg explained that the boy, who was born with significant special needs, was adopted from the Ukraine.

The family wrote that they are apologizing "To all those affected by the inapproprate and thoughtless actions" of their son and requested forgiveness from the community and those affected.

The boy, in a hand-written note, apologized to the parents, children, staff and emergency responders for his actions.
