Students enjoy touch of class with limo lunch rides

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

A group of students at New Prague Middle School enjoyed a touch of class as they took limousine rides during their lunchtime Thursday, Oct. 3.

The rides were rewards for 193 students from sixth to eighth grades who reached goals during a recent fundraiser. The seventh and eighth graders were selling magazine subscriptions as part of a school fundraiser and sixth graders were selling a variety of items to raise funds for their annual trip to Long Lake.

To qualify for the trips sixth graders had to sell 20 items from their sale, which included wrapping paper, ornaments, candy and cheese spreads. Seventh and eighth graders had to sell 10 magazine subscriptions. The companies that organized the fundraisers paid for the rides.

Four stretch limousines, including two Hummer limos, were brought in to provide rides to the students. While students rode around New Prague in the limos, they were also given their choice of pizza and pop. There were three ride times, divided by grades, during which the students had 25 minutes to enjoy their lunch while touring the town in style.
