Students enjoy working with 'buddies'

The first year at Raven Stream Elementary has been one of community building within the classrooms and throughout the building.

Two teachers wanted to take this a step further. Kindergarten teacher Amy Bowen and fifth-grade teacher Rick Bell wanted their students to make connections with kids other than classmates. They decided to set up a time every week where their classes get together and spend time with their buddies.

The idea has become a great success, with kindergartners reading to their buddies and the fifth graders helping by reading picture books to the younger kids.
