Superintendent finalist drops out; two will interview for post -UPDATE

The New Prague Area School Board will interview two finalists for the superintendent post that will be vacated by Larry Kauzlarich at the end of the current school year.

Interviews with six semifinalists were held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19 and 20, with the board meeting after the Wednesday interviews. They ranked each of the semifinalists, and chose three candidates as finalists: Tim Dittberner, New Prague Middle School principal, Greg Winter, Braham superintendent, and Teri Preisler, central office administrator at Owatonna schools.

On Thursday Preisler withdrew her name from consideration. The other two will interview Monday and Tuesday, March 25 and 26. Winter will interview Monday and Dittberner on Tuesday.

As part of the interview process, a community forum will be held at the Middle School auditorium each day at 4:15 p.m. The candidate will make a presentation to members of the public and answer questions. That will be followed by dinner with board members in the board room at the CEC and a formal interview at 6 p.m., also in the board room.

Following the Tuesday interview, board members will meet and discuss each candidate and select a final candidate with whom they will negotiate a contract.

The school board strongly encourages employees and community members to attend the community forums at the Middle School Auditorium starting at 4:15 on Monday and Tuesday.  The board members will observe the forum and will be available to speak with immediately following the forum.  The public can also attend the board interview at 6:30 each day.  The final candidate will be chosen following the final interview on Tuesday evening.
