Swim team loses twice

The New Prague Trojan girls swim and dive team lost two matches last week to Wright County Conference foes. On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the team lost to Dassel-Cokato 93-71, and two days later they lost by the same score at Waconia.

Coach Tracy Torgerson said that several girls have stepped up and shown competitiveness in recent meets. One of those is Maddie Anderson.

"She really stepped up this week to help swim the 200 IM with a time of 3:06.79. She also swam the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:28.45,” Torgerson said. “These are two tough events to swim, especially swimming them in one night.”

Jazlyn Cady completed her first 200 Freestyle with at time of 2:51.87. She also competed the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:18.31. As a first year swimmer for New Prague, Jazlyn has impressed the coaching staff.

Abby Estep also stepped up to swim those tough events. She competed in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:43.35.

Ann-Marie Hummel stepped up to swim more events than she had planned on Tuesday. Several team members fell ill before Tuesday’s meet and Hummel stepped up to swim extra events.

Ellen Popple received her personal best score in diving with a 200.5.

Finally, Hayley Anderson got her personal best time in the 100 fly with a 1:59.06!
