Talk of Cedar Lake park draws large crowd

Roughly, 100 people showed up Tuesday night for an open house about a possible regional park on Cedar Lake, northeast of New Prague. The event was held at New Prague High School.
Scott County hosted the meeting, which covered a variety of issues, from current parks the county has, to how the acquisition of land for the tentatively named Cedar Lake Farms Regional Park will likely take several years.
Among the purposes of the meeting was to let people know about the park and the acquisition of land for it and where it was in Scott County's plans for the future.
Michael Sobota and Patricia Freeman were among the representatives of Scott County who addressed the crowd of mostly Cedar Lake residents. They said the land for the park will only be through property owners willing to sell land for the park to be located on the southern and western portions of Cedar Lake.
