TCU girls have great meet in Belle Plaine
The Tri-City United Girls Track and Field Team placed second in the Belle Plaine meet on Thursday, April 4.
Host Belle Plaine won the Tiger Invitational with 198 points. Following in second was TCU with 111, Jordan and Mayer Lutheran each with 78, Delano with 75, and lester Prairie/Holy Trinity with 12 points.
TCU’s coach Brian Fogal called it a great meet for the girls.
“I’m very excited on how well we did,” he said.
Results
The 4x800-meter relay team of Sam Ruger, Taylor Houn, Joslyn Vargo, and Katy Rabenberg took 5th with a time of 11:29.
In the 100m hurdles, Megan Steffen took 6th with a time of 18:20.
Sophomore Briana Berninghaus came in first place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.60. Her fellow runner, Sydney Vargo came in 5th with a time of 13.40.
The girls 4x200 relay of Katie Ellingsworth, Megan Steffen, Joslyn Vargo and Megan Rutt came in 1st with a time of 1:55.30.
In the 1600, Megan Traxler came in 1st with a time of 6:50, followed by Taylor Houn in 3rd with a time of 7:10.
The 4x100 relay team of Tianna Bratsch, Taylor Block, Sydney Vargo and Jessica Arcos came in 5th with a time of 58:20.
Five Titans participated in the 400m dash. Kristi Frederick came in 2nd with a time of 1:05, followed by Ellingsworth (4th) in 1:06, Joslyn Vargo (tie for 7th) in 1:10, Rabenberg (11th) in 1:11 and Alex Blomgren (13th) 1:12.
Other highlights included Steffen taking 2nd in the 300m hurdles, Ruger taking 6th in 800m run, and Berninghaus taking 1st in 200m dash.
In the field events, Michaela Wood took first in the shot put with a throw of 31-11.15.
Claire McCrady took 1st in the pole vault with an 8 foot vault.
Edith Martinez came in 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 4 foot, 8 inches.
McCrady took 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 5 inches.
