TCU sophomore earns volleyball all conference

Megan Rutt, a sophomore at Tri-City United High School earned all conference honors in the Minnesota River Conference. Rutt, who plays a middle hitter on the TCU varsity team had 85 kills in MRC action, 2.9 kills per set.  She hit at .324 percent. Her coach, Becky Madison, added that Rutt also had six ace serves and 22.5 blocks. Rutt is the daughter of Joseph and Jennifer Rutt.
 
On October 8, Rutt set a school record during the game against Medford.  She now holds the record for kills in a match with 28. The previous best from TCU was with Claire McCrady whose total of 17 made the record.
 
At the team’s season banquet on November 3, Madison also handed out other team awards to her players. Rutt was also named Most Improved Player, Player of the Year in Offense, and Madison gave her the Titan Award.
 
Earning honorable mention was Amber Brokl, who also earned the Player of the Year Defense. Brokl is the daughter of Shelia Brokl and Dan Brokl.
 
Other awards went to Edith Martinez as Player of the Year,  Madie Chadderdon as Team Leadership Award.
 
Letter winners were Alicia Hanson, Martinez, Megan Traxler, Chadderdon, Alex David, Taylor Simon Brokl, Samantha Hellerud, Jenna Bednar, Rutt, and Maria Bischoff.
