Tennis team loses to St. Peter, Hutchinson
New Prague’s boys tennis team lost two matches last week, to St. Peter and Hutchinson.
The team also had a match with Red Wing rained outthat match was played Monday, May 15, with Red Wing winning 6-1. Details next week.
New Prague traveled to Albert Lea to open the Section 2AA team playoffs. New Prague was the No. 7 seed in the south subsection and Albert Lea was No. 2. The Tigers took a 6-1 win.
New Prague will send two singles players and two doubles teams into Section singles and doubles play next week.
Saints 6, Trojans 1
Andy Kubes and Nick DeValk, playing at No. 1 doubles, kept St. Peter from sweeping the Trojans. The New Prague duo won in three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5.
Losing in singles were John Cilibrasi, Ben Dresow, Josh Meuwissen and PJ Smisek.
In doubles, losses were recorded by the team of Patrick Jeffrey/Matt Gillen and by the duo of David McCollister/Dan Coons.
Tigers 7, Trojans 0
Hutchinson dominated play in this match, winning all seven points in two sets.
Cilibrasi, Dresow, Meuwissen and Smisek lost in singles and Kubes/DeValk, Jeffrey/Gillen and McCollister/Sam Dresow were competing in doubles.
