Teresa Wenzel, 100

Teresa Wenzel, 100, of New Prague, died Monday, January 9, 2012, at The Lodge on Natchez in Elko New Market.

Born March 20, 1911, in Burlington, IL, Teresa was a daughter of Michael and Bridget (O'Leary) Ormond. She attended country school and then public school through high school. On November 25, 1933, she married David Wenzel, Sr. at Lombard, IL. They moved to St. Paul where she lived for 61 years before moving to New Prague to be closer to family. She worked for Montgomery Ward for 54 years, until age 85, when the store closed. She was an avid card player (a 500 sharpie!) and loved to travel to California to see her family.

She is survived by children Kathleen (John) Fjeldstad, Brentwood, CA, and Mary Palma, New Prague; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister Rita Butts.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 16, 1956; a son David Wenzel Jr.; grandsons Tom Fjeldstad and Peter Fjeldstad; son-in-law Ed Palma; her parents; and siblings Vincent Ormond, Ellen Wolff and Lenora Birsen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment will be at the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers are Dan Skluzacek, Ryan, Justin, Colin and Nolan Skluzacek, and Joe Fjeldstad.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
