Thanks, New Prague
Starting with Friday’s Cruise Night and concluding with the softball tournament late Sunday afternoon, it seemed that nearly everything related to New Prague’s Annual Dozinky Festival went off without a hitch.
Weather was a little overcast, but what little rain there was fell early Saturday, clearing away before the Dozinky Opening Ceremonies at 10 a.m. at the Czech Heritage Village. The lack of sun and a light breeze helped keep things from overheating. A good crowd showed up both Friday and Saturday to join in the annual community celebration.
For 32 years, New Prague has opened its doors to neighbors, friends, former residents and visitors from all over who come to experience Dozinky. Whether they come to see the hundreds of classic automobiles parading down Main Street on Friday, or the antique tractors that are a part of Saturday’s Parade of Farm Pride, Regardless of whether they’re Czech, German, Scandinavian, Irish or any other ethnic background, people find New Prague a welcoming place during Dozinky. The music, food, craft vendors, dancing and many other experiences help to make their visit a pleasant one.
To the New Prague Chamber of Commerce staff members and board members, the many volunteers who helped put together the various events, the people manning the many booths, and to all those who came downtown to experience this year’s Dozinky Festival, we say Thank You, and we look forward to seeing you next year... September 15 and 16.
