Thomas Chlan Jr., 86

Thomas V. Chlan Jr., 86, of rural Lonsdale, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Infinia Health Care Center in Faribault.

Born September 28, 1920, Thomas was a son of Thomas W. Sr. and Agnes Chlan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and married Evelyn A. Nerud on May 14, 1947, in Minneapolis. He worked for Bachman's Nursery in Bloomington for 17 years and also worked as a custodian and boiler engineer for Prior Lake Schools. Moving to the Lonsdale area about 23 years ago, Thomas enjoyed bookkeeping, farming, gardening, fishing, family vacations, Sunday picnics, cooking and canning.

He is survived by a daughter, Judy David, Lonsdale, and fiance Kert Peterson; Kert's children, Al (Angie) Lisowski, Wendy Peterson and Mike Rudnitski; Kert's grandchildren, Isabeel, Bryce and Jarrett; a sister, Agnes (Jim) Noiske, Montgomery; and three brothers, Emil (Gertie) Chlan, New Prague, Milo (Hedi) Chlan, Montgomery, and George Chlan, Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation was held Friday, March 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
