Thomas W. “Bud” Callahan, 98
Thomas W. “Bud” Callahan, age 98 of Le Sueur, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Mayo Health Systems in New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Fr. Andrew Stueve & Fr. George Grafsky will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur and will continue Monday morning from 8-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine with military honors.
Bud was born on October 4, 1919 to John and Regina (Kelly) Callahan on the family homestead in Scott County. Bud married Kathryn Hix on April 11, 1944 in St. Peter. He and Kathryn raised six children on the family farm. They helped with the many 4-H projects their children were involved with. They were members of the St. Thomas church until they sold the family farm. Bud was a proud veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW. He had been a long-time member of Pioneer Power. Bud thoroughly enjoyed showing his H Farmall, his John Deere B, his Jeep, and Model A ford truck at the annual show.
Bud is survived by his brother, John Callahan of Delta Junction, Alaska; children, Jane (James) Callahan Bullard of St. Louis, Mo., Jean (Lloyd) Busch of Cottage Grove, Judith ( Richard) Hanzel of New Prague, Janet Mullenmeister of Prior Lake, Dan (Ramona) Callahan of New Prague, and Michael (Lynn) Callahan of Mankato. Bud is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn in ‘01; sisters, Regina “Dolly” Moriarity, Patricia “Patsy” Lundsford, and Marie Hayden; brother, Jimmy Pat Callahan; son-in-law, Michael Mullenmeister; and infant sons in 1954, James and Thomas Callahan.
