A Le Sueur County Public Health official has confirmed three cases of the H1N1 influenza virus (also known as the swine flu) among workers at Seneca Foods in Montgomery.
According to Cindy Shaughnessy, R.N., PHN, Director of Le Sueur County Public Health, a cluster of influenza-like illnesses at Seneca are being investigated by the county, local health care providers including hospitals and clinics, and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
Shaughnessy said two people from Montgomery have been hospitalized with influenza-like illness, but didn't confirm if they were the H1N1 cases.
It was also not reported if the three confirmed H1N1 cases were hospitalized or taking treatment at home.
Shaughnessy added that Seneca Foods is cooperating fully with the response. They are providing assistance to their workers with medical needs and instructing ill workers to stay home. Le Sueur County Public Health applauds the management at Seneca Foods for their quick response
