Tiger defense downs Titan girls

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the Tri-City United Girls Basketball Team traveled to Belle Plaine for a conference showdown with the Belle Plaine Tigers.
Titan Coach Kevin Woitas said Belle Plaine's press defense proved to be the difference in the first half, taking a comfortable 47-22 lead into halftime.
The girl's coach continued by saying the second half was played evenly with both teams trading baskets for most of the half, but the Titans were never able to cut into the Tiger lead, which lead to the Titans' 77-50 loss.
The Titans were lead by eighth grader Joslyn Vargo who contribued 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block.  Megan Steffen added 9 points, and Annie McCrady added 6 points and 6 rebounds.
The Titans are at home on Friday night against Norwood-Young America.
