Tigers tame Trojans girls
The New Prague Trojans saw its five-game winning streak end Thursday, Dec. 2, as the Farmington Tigers took a 2-0 win. Earlier in the week, the Trojans defeated St. Peter/Le Sueur-Henderson 5-0.
New Prague was scheduled to play Northfield Tuesday, Dec. 7. They will play at Waseca Tuesday, Dec. 14, and face Chanhassen/ Chaska on Thursday, Dec. 16, at Chaska.
Trojans 5, Bulldogs 0
After a series of close contests that featured overtimes and come-from-behind wins, the Trojans toned down the dramatics in their game at Le Sueur Tuesday, Nov. 30.
The Trojans outshot the St. Peter/Le Sueur-Henderson/ Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center/Cleveland Bulldogs 51-14, including yet held only a 1-0 lead after two periods.
That changed in the third as the Trojans scored two quick goals to open the third, then two more later in the period for a 5-0 win.
Lindsay Paschke scored two goals for the Trojans, with Courtney Reger, Kasey Marquardt and Ashley Zachow each getting one goal. Hallie Paschke got the Trojans' offensive machine into gear, providing three assists, while Brittany Sticha had two and Mackenzie Smith and Kami Ehrich had one each.
Shyler Sletta stopped all 14 shots for her first shutout of the season. The senior lowered her goals against average to 1.43.
Tigers 2, Trojans 0
Farmington scored goals in each of the first two periods and controlled the action in the third as the Trojans were unable to put up a sustained attack.
Farmington outshot the Trojans 38-15, with New Prague's Shyler Sletta stopping 36 shots in taking the loss.
