Tigers top Trojan tennis team

The New Prague Trojan boys tennis team got back into action Friday, April 28, after two weather-related cancellations earlier in the week.

The Trojans travelled to Delano and dropped a close match by a score of 4-3. New Prague swept the doubles, but lost all four singles matches.

Eric Morris and Jacob Washa won handily at No. 1 doubles, staying undefeated on the season. Kyle Schoenbauer and Evan Zimmer teamed up for the first time at No. 2 doubles and won a tightly contested match. Josh Kassendorf and Bryce Berglund started out very slowly at No. 3 doubles, losing their first set before coming back to win their match in three sets.

The Trojan singles did not fare so well. Alex Masberg fought hard but was beaten in two sets by the hard-hitting Tiger No. 1 singles. Logan Hallet fought hard, but could not match his opponent's mistake-free play. Tony Larson and Carter Lowe were also defeated.

"We did not play our best in the match," Coach Robb Morris said. "We started out very slowly, losing most of the first few games we played. Our doubles teams were able to reverse the momentum and take control of their matches, while none of the singles players could find a way to overcome their opponents."
