Time to celebrate the bun!

Welcome to the 83rd annual Kolacky Days celebration.

Inside this edition of the Messenger, you will find a special souvenir pull-out section devoted to this year’s festival. You will find information on the seven candidates who are running for a Kolacky Days title, entertainment for children and adults, and everything you need to know about the festival.

The production of this section, in addition to putting out a regular newspaper, is no simple task. It requires planning, execution and some long hours in the office. Thanks to Lisa, Kassidy and our Production Department (Jennifer Leff, Dennis Lambrecht and Linda Beuch) at Suel Printing Co. we pulled it off and created, what I believe, is a top-notch section with a lot of useful information on this year’s festival.

Of course, there wouldn’t be a festival without the months and months of planning and organizing by the Montgomery Area Community Club (MACC). Our multi-day and popular festival attracts thousands to Montgomery, so everything has to be in place. The group has done a phenomenal job planning the event. If you see them this weekend, say “Thanks for taking so much time out of your lives to give us a fantastic weekend.” They really deserve a round of applause and many pats on the back.

The MACC is not alone is planning Kolacky Days. There are countless other people who head-up committees to organize and plan an event. They deserve just as much recognition for making their event run well.

If there’s one thing that affect a community festival, it is the weather. This weekend looks to be hot. According to weather.com, the weather is predicted to look great. On Friday, sunny skies will raise the temperature to 82 degrees. The overnight low looks to drop to 62. On Saturday, skies will be partly cloudy with a high of 83 degrees. A low of 64 will make it nice for sleeping with the windows open. Sunday’s weather looks to be a repeat of Saturday.
