Township filings are complete in area
Filings for office in five area townships closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, resulting in only two races with both of those for supervisor positions, which are for 3- year terms.
In New Market Township, clerk LeRoy Clausen reported that Brent Mohn and Michael Huntington, both newcomers, will face each other for the vacant supervisor seat. For the treasurer position (2-year term), incumbent David Frame has filed for re-election.
The other race is in Wheatland Township. Clerk James Duban reported Brian Pieper and Kenneth Kes Sr. are running for supervisor. Running for treasurer is Gary Bruggenthies.
In Cedar Lake Township incumbent Karen Tupy is running for treasurer and Gerald Williams is running for supervisor. Webster Township has incumbent Robert Michel running for treasurer and Joe Horejsi seeking the supervisor position. For Derrynane Township incumbent James Kroyer has filed for treasurer and David Webb for the supervisor. Incumbent supervisor Pete Nytes did not file.
The township elections will be held Tuesday, March 12.
