Townships will hold elections March 12

Five area township elections will be held Tuesday, March 12, with races in only two townships.

In New Market Township newcomers Brent Mohn and Michael Huntington will face each other for the vacant supervisor seat, which carries a three-year term. Incumbent treasurer David Frame filed for re-election for the twoyear term.

New Market Township also has a ballot question, Option B, which is based on a petition that was filed. It asks township residents to change the clerk and treasurer seats from elected to appointed positions.

Frame is against the question, stating "Three votes would be all that is needed to appoint a clerk or treasurer who would then work for the board rather than the electors."

Wheatland Township has the other race where Brian Pieper and Kenneth Kes Sr. are running for supervisor. Running for treasurer is Gary Bruggenthies.

Running unopposed in Cedar Lake Township is incumbent Karen Tupy for treasurer and Gerald Williams for supervisor.

Webster Township has incumbent Robert Michel running for treasurer and Joe Horejsi seeking the supervisor position.

For Derrynane Township incumbent supervisor James Kroyer is running for reelection and David Webb for treasurer. Incumbent treasurer Pete Nytes did not file.
