Trojan adapted floor hockey team wins two
New Prague's adapted floor hockey team won a pair of games this week, beating St. Paul Humboldt Monday and Hudson on Tuesday. They are currently in fourth place in their division and, if they win both their remaining games, could have a first-round playoff game at home on March 12.
The Trojans have two games remaining in the regular season. They travel to Winona Friday, Feb. 27, then host South Suburban on Thursday, March 5. The game scheduled for Feb. 19 at Dakota United has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Eastview High School.
Trojans 9, Hawks 8
New Prague scored five goals in the first and led 7-2 going into the third, then hung on to win 9-8.
Humboldt came close to scoring the tieing goal with two seconds left.
Adam Jeurissen scored five goals and had two assists. Ann Busch had three goals and an assist and Phillip Weber had two goals. Alex Palma added three assists and DJ Gilder had one.
Marcus Schoenbauer was kept busy in goal, making 60 saves. Humboldt outshot New Prague 68-60.
Trojans 18, Raiders 3
After a tight first period, the Trojans ran away from Hudson with eight goals in the second and seven in the third.
Sam Bisek had five goals and two assists for New Prague and Eric Johnson had five goals and one assist.
Also scoring for the Trojans were Weber with three goals and three assists, Jeurissen with two goals and three assists, Busch and Kayla Doran with one goal and one assist each and Gilder with a goal.
Schoenbauer had 15 saves as New Prague outshot Hudson 113-18.
