Trojan boys continue fast start

New Prague's boys basketball team is off to a fast start, winning their first three games in easy fashion.

Last week the Trojans defeated a pair of Section 1AAA teams, handing Albert Lea an 85-54 loss and beating Waseca 72-41.

The Trojans were scheduled to play at Le Sueur-Henderson Tuesday. They will travel to unbeaten Faribault for a non-conference game Thursday, Dec. 20.

New Prague plays Waconia at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in Glencoe in the opening round of the Glencoe-Silver Lake Holiday Tournament. The Trojans will also play games Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28 and 29.

New Prague then has a 10-day layoff before hosting St. Peter on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Trojans 85, Tigers 54

Tony Johnson scored 20 points in the first half to spark New Prague to a 39-22 halftime lead. The Trojans kept the pressure on the Tigers in the second half on their way to an easy 31-point win.

Johnson finished with a game-high 24 points. Teammate Adam Michel added 19.

Assistant coach Tim Dittberner, who was in charge of the team last week while head coach Jeff Gravon was absent, said the team's defense is sparking the Trojans' play.
