Trojan boys fall to Farmington
The New Prague/Montgomery-Lonsdale Trojan boys hockey team lost one game to an opponent and another to the weather.
The Trojans lost to Farmington for the second time this season, by a 5-2 score Tuesday, Jan. 18. Their home game on Friday, Jan. 21, against Northfield was postponed due to the snowstorm that hit the area. It will be made up Saturday, Jan. 29, at the New Prague Area Community Center, at 7 p.m. There will be no JV game.
The Trojans were scheduled to play at Prior Lake Tuesday, Jan. 25, and will play at Shakopee on Thursday, Jan. 27. Next week, they play at Hutchinson on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Tigers 5, Trojans 2
The Trojans went into their game at second-place and Farmington in third place in the Missota Conference. But the Tigers, who have an explosive offense, drew first blood with a power play goal at 3:21 of the first period.
The score stayed that way until the opening minute of the third period, when the Trojans' Matt Ambroz scored on a pass from Ryan Witty 50 seconds into the period.
The Tigers regained the lead at 2:12, then scored a pair of power play goals to take a 4-1 lead. The Trojans kept coming at the Tigers, though, with Eric Bisek scoring, from Corey Hrabe and Ambroz, at 15:25. Farmington scored an empty net goal in the final minute to secure the win.
Farmington outshot the Trojans 40-34. Dan Sacco was in goal for New Prague, and stopped 35 shots.
