Trojan boys golf team 2nd in season opener


The New Prague Trojan boys golf team finally got on the course for a meet Tuesday, April 30, and the team placed second in a Missota Conference meet held at CreeksBend GC.
The Trojans shot a respectable 314, but finished 27 strokes behind Chanhassen. The Storm’s top four players were impressive, finishing with a combined 3-over par 287.
Shakopee was one stroke behind New Prague, at 331, followed by Chaska (327), Farmington (336), Red Wing (343), Holy Angels (348) and Northfield (354).
New Prague senior Jack Pexa finished as co-medallist with a 1-under 70, along with Collin Seal of Chanhassen. Jake Witt was tied for ninth at 78 and Austin Kottke was 13th at 81. Other Trojan scores were Connor Amundsen (85), Michael Geiger (87) and James Brod (89).
After competing in the Holy Angels Invitational at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan on Tuesday, May 7, the Trojans will have a busy schedule with six rounds of golf in seven days. On Thursday, May 9, they are in a Missota Conference meet at Bluff Creek GC in Chanhassen. They compete in the two-day Mankato East Invitational, Friday at Le Sueur CC and Saturday at CreeksBend in New Prague. On Monday, May 13, they will play in the Chaska Invitational at the Chaska Town Course, then they play in Missota meets on Tuesday (at Fountain Valley in Farmington) and Wednesday (at Stonebrooke in Shakopee).
