Trojan boys play well in wins over Hastings, Holy Family
The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team won two games last week, topping the Hastings Raiders in a non-conference game and then scored an exciting win over Holy Family Catholic.
"We did some really nice things with our wins over Hastings and Holy Family," Coach Blake Nicols said. "The big thing that stood out to me was defensively we competed really hard.
"Also offensively we had multiple guys step up. Tyler Kemp was outstanding against Hastings, while Nathan Brusseau put together his best game of the year against Holy Family, all while Austin Zimmer, Tyler Thoresen, Ben Novak, and Ben Bartusek gave us great senior leadership when we needed it.”
The Trojans (9-11, 2-2 Wright County East) will host Orono (No. 6, Class AA) on Friday, Feb. 9. On Monday, Feb. 12, they will play at Delano.
Trojans 72, Raiders 58 New Prague led 35-30 at halftime of their game at Hastings Tuesday, Jan. 30, then ran away in the second half of their 72-58 win.
Tyler Kemp led the Trojans with 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Hunter Nielsen added....
