Trojan boys track team does well in field events

New Prague High School's boys track team had two meets last week. On Tuesday, April 17, they competed in the Farmington Relays, and on Saturday they were in action at Austin.

The Trojans ran at Hastings on Tuesday. They will compete at the Missota Relays Tuesday, May 1, in Shakopee and host a four-team meet with Belle Plaine, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and St. Clair on Thursday, May 3.

Farmington Relays

The Trojans competed at Farmington Tuesday. Due to technical problems, the team scores were not available. Farmington officials were still compiling information this week to determine placings at the meet.

New Prague had two athletes each grab a pair of first-place finishes. Drew Feuk won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.53 seconds and the pole vault at 11 feet, 6 inches; Tony Johnson set a school record in winning the high jump with a leap of 6-4 and also won the triple jump with 40-6.5,

Placing second for New Prague were Andy O'Neill in the 110 meters and Adam Michel in the triple jump,

Brent Weiers finished third in the shot put with a toss of 44-8, and fourth in the discus at 117-4. Also placing fourth were the 4x800 relay team of Preston Tomlinson, Marty Herrmann, Drew Revak and Nick Hirdler, and the 4x400 relay of Derek Notch, Colin O'Brien, Michel and Johnson.

Placing fifth were the 4x200 relay team of Feuk, Eric Meger, Notch and Johnson, Michel in the high jump and in the discus.

Sixth-place finishers were the sprint medley relay team of Matt Revak, Derek Hurt, Alex Hennes and Hirdler, and O'Brien in the triple jump,
