Trojan girls overcome slow start to top Bluejays

After falling behind 5-0 to start the game, the New Prague Trojans got their offense untracked and claimed a 64-45 win at Waseca in a non-conference basketball game.

New Prague is 3-2 on the season and has just one game left before the holidays. They host Mankato East on Thursday, Dec. 20. They won't be in action again until Friday, Jan. 4, when they host Minnetonka.

Trojans 64, Bluejays 45

Waseca jumped to a 5-0 lead, but New Prague bounced back and controlled the rest of the first half, taking a 30-20 halftime lead. Amanda Wagner had eight of her game-high 12 points in the first half, and the Trojans made eight of 11 free throws in building the lead.

New Prague had scoring from 10 different players in the second half, as they continued to build on their lead, outscoring the Bluejays 34-25 to claim the win.

In addition to Wagner's 12 points, New Prague had 10 points each from Brit Rynda and Maggie Weiers. All 13 Trojans saw action in the contest.
