Trojan girls skate past Falcons
The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team defeated Faribault in their only game last week, by a 4-1 score.
The Trojans got the only goal of the first period from Dani Kocina, who scored on an assist by Taylor Heid. New Prague got two goals from senior Kasey Marquardt in the second period. Those were sandwiched around a Faribault goal and made the score 3-1 after one period. Brittany Sticha and Mikaela Algren earned assists.
The Trojans added one more in the third. Linsday Paschke scored from Sarah Larson and Marissa Kivi to make it a 4-1 final. The
Trojans otushot the Falcons 51-18 for the contest. Sophie Puente made 17 saves to earn teh win.
New Prague (7-3, 1-0 Missota) was scheduled to face Red Wing (No. 2, Class A) on Tuesday, Dec. 11. They return to the ice Thursday, Dec. 13, at Northfield, then play at Waseca at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18. The Trojans host Farmington Thursday, Dec. 20, before the Christmas break.
