Trojan girls take 2nd at Missota track meet

New Prague’s girls track team posted an impressive second place finish at the Missota Conference championships. The meet was held May 13 and 15 at Prior Lake High School.

The Trojans also competed in the State True Team meet at Stillwater Saturday. They finished sixth of nine teams.

The Trojans are off until Wednesday, May 31, when they travel to the Section 2AA meet at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The Section meet concludes Friday, June 2.

Missota meet

The host Lakers won the meet with 225 points. New Prague had a 187, followed by Northfield (136), Farmington (112.5), Shakopee (106.5), Red Wing (61.5), Holy Angels (58) and Hutchinson (26.5).

New Prague had six first or second place individual finishes, earning all-conference honors, while one relay team placed first for all-conference.

The Trojans’ Melanie Deutsch won the pole vault competition, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches. Meanwhile Amanda Wagner won the 800-meters with a school record time of 2 minutes, 24.67 seconds.

The Trojans’ 4x400 relay team of Britt Rynda, Rena Kneeland, Whitney Trecker and Becky Theisen took first place in a time of 4:06.5.

Theisen took three second place finishes, the 200 (25.99 seconds), the long jump (17-1), and the discus (110-6). Katelyn Meger took second in the 3,200 meters, in a time of 11:47.43.

Second place relay teams earning honorable mention were the 4x200 (Rynda, Erin Sand, Danielle Busch and Trecker) in 1:51.55 and the 4x800 relay (Jenny Hendricks, Katelyn Meger, Annie Connelly and Amanda Wagner) in 10:07.44.

Third place finishes, which also earned honorable mention, were Wagner in the pole vault (8-9), Trecker in the 400 (1:02.25), and Kneeland in the 300 hurdles (50.96).

Placing fourth for the Trojans were Shelbie Johnson in the 300 hurdles (51.21) and freshman Emily R. Bisek in the 100 (12.75). The 4x100 relay team of Bisek, Sand, Amanda Powell and Busch was fourth in 53.98.

Placing fifth for New Prague were Annie Connelly in the 800 (2:31.72), Bisek in the 200 (27.49), Johnson in the triple jump (31-11), Hendricks in the high jump (4-8) and Jill Bartusek in the 100 hurdles (17.78).

Sixth place finishes were from senior Emily J. Bisek in the 100 hurdles (17.87) and Kevynn Prochaska in the shot put (33-10).

The Trojans had seventh place finishes from Alexis Sherman in the 100 hurdles (17.98), Rynda in the 400 (1:03.77) and Bartusek in the 300 hurdles (52.29).

Rynda was eighth in the triple jump (31-9.75), and Deutsch was eighth in the high jump (4-8).

Charlie Herrmann was ninth in the 1600 meters (5:51.55).

rue Team State meet

New Prague finished sixth of nine teams at the True Team meet.

Sartell won the meet, with Grand Rapids and Monticello second and third.

Top five finishes for the Trojans were:

First place: Theisen in the 200 (26.04).

Second place: Theisen in the long jump (17-2.75), 4x400 relay (Rynda, Kneeland, Trecker, Theisen) 4:06.15.

Third place: Kneeland in the 300 hurdles (49.55), 4x800 relay (Hendricks, Meger, Wagner, Connelly) 11:04.2.

Fourth place: Meger in the 3200 (11:41.96), 4x200 relay (Rynda, Sand, Busch, Trecker) 1:51.69.

Fifth place: Emily R. Bisek in the 100 (13.08), Wagner in the 800 (2:25.49).
