Trojan hockey girls looking for offense
The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team went through a two-game stretch that saw their goaltending tested to the fullest. Eagan and Red Wing outshot the Trojans by a combined 109-16 in a two-game stretch, and the Trojans came out of the week salvaging a scoreless tie to go with a 7-0 loss.
New Prague was scheduled to host Mankato East on Tuesday, Dec. 16. On Thursday, Dec. 18, The Trojans will face Prior Lake in a 5 p.m. Missota Conference contest at Dakotah Ice Center. The Trojans will play at Farmington at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, then will have off until Monday, Dec. 29, when they take on Albert Lea in the first round of the Austin Tournament.
Wildcats 7, Trojans 0
New Prague and Eagan skated to a scoreless draw in the first period, but Eagan opened the scoring with a goal in the first minute of the second period for a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats scored five more goals, in a 5-minute span midway through the period to break the game open.
Shyler Sletta replaced Brittany Sickmann in net and allowed one more goal in the 7-0 loss. Sickmann stopped 30 of 36 shots while Sletta stopped 18 of 19. The Wildcats outshot New Prague 55-6.

New Prague and Red Wing skated for 58 minutes of futility, as neither team could find the back of the net.
Trojan goaltender Sletta was solid in net as she turned back all 54 shots she faced. The Wingers put on a heavy barrage of shots, but time and again Sletta made the stop. New Prague managed just 10 shots on net, and eight of those were in the first period.
