Trojan sports update

DJ Gilder's two-run single capped a five-run seventh inning and gave the New Prague Trojans a 15-14 win over the North Suburban Cougars in the consolation semifinals at the State Adapted Softball Tournament Saturday. The Trojans won one of three games to place sixth in the tourney.

The New Prague girls track also came from behind, getting two firsts and a second in the final three events to edge Shakopee for the section title Friday in St. Peter. State qualifiers for the girls included Jenny Hendricks in the 800 meters, Rena Kneeland in the 300 hurdles, the 4x200 meter relay of Danielle Busch, Erin Sand, Kneeland and Brit Rynda, the 4x400 relay team of Taylor Rookaird, Sand, Kneeland and Rynda, Busch in the pole vault, Sylvia Bisek in the long jump and Lindsay Reinke in the shot put.

The Trojan boys only state qualifier was Ben Dvorak in the shot put. Buffalo won the meet, while New Prague was sixth.

The state track and field meet is Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul.
