Trojan swimmers drop 2 WCC meets

New Prague dropped a pair of Wright County Conference swim meets last week, losing to No. 1-ranked Hutchinson and Litchfield.

New Prague returns to its home pool Thursday, Sept. 21, to face Dassel-Cokato, then hosts Waconia on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Tigersharks 96, Trojans 80 Hutchinson was just coming off a win over Visitation that propelled them into the No. 1 spot in Class A, and while the Trojans put up a good fight, the Tigersharks prevailed 96-80.

"It was fun to watch the girls swim some events they may not be accustomed to and watch some younger girls step up and swim in the varsity role," said Coach Tracy Torgerson.

Two girls who stepped up were Caitlyn Luckow and Jocelynn Allen. Both girls have shown immense potential in their swimming ability, Torgerson said. Luckow swam the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 3 minutes, 18.64 seconds. Allen also swam the 200 IM and placed sixth in 2:56.88.

Maddie Anderson stepped up to swim the 500 Freestyle. She maintained her pace and was strong and steady the entire race. She placed fourth with a time of 7:19.76.

Elise Pahl raced her best 100 Breaststroke time of 1:32.41 to take third in the JV 100 Breaststroke. Sarah Helvick took fourth in the.....
