Trojan swimmers host Tigersharks in home opener

The New Prague Trojan swim and dive team opened its final home season at the Montgomery pool Thursday, Sept. 1, hosting the powerful Hutchinson Tigersharks.

“We are definitely counting the days before we are able to host a meet in our own pool next season,” Head Coach Tracy Torgerson said.

She described the Tiger- Sharks as a “well-oiled machine.” The team is a perennial state contender and defeated the Trojans by a score of 100- 74.

“We are very fortunate to have many strong seventh and eighth grade swimmers,” Torgerson said. “Bailey Newman, Riley Siegle, Elizabeth Hessling and Kendra Menden have brought a lot to our team in a little amount of time. These girls are able to swim any event and perform it well.”

She said with the younger girls mixing in with the girls who have more experience, it will be interesting to see how the season progresses, especially once they get to the championship meets in October and November.
