Trojans’ depth helps team take 3rd at True Team sections

The New Prague Trojan girls track and field team placed third at the Section 1AAATrue Team meet Tuesday, May 10, at Lakeville North High School.

ince the Trojans moved up from Class AA in True Team Track, this was the team’s best finish. The Trojans finished behind power house teams from Lakeville South (1,111 points) and Lakeville North (1,008 points). New Prague had 855, followed by Rochester Century (808), Owatonna (782.5), Farmington (702), Austin (601.5), Northfield (586.5), Rochester Mayo (549), and Rochester John Marshall (356.5).

"We rose up as a team and succeeded as a team," Coach Johnny Josephson said.

The Trojans had just one first-place finish, the 4x800 relay tam of Catie Skaja, Kate Chromy, Jenna Lambrecht and Josie Herrmann. They had a time of 9 minutes, 49.88 seconds.

New Prague had seven other top-five finishes: Delaney McLoone in the 100 meters and long jump, Maria Berg in the 800 and 1,600 meters, were she set a new school record of 5:11.99, Mikayla Breiner in the triple jump, Randi Allar in the pole vault and the 4x100 relay team of Keegan Mulvihill, Allar, Ashley Shimek and Callie Peterson.
