Trojans fall to Falcons

The New Prague Trojan football team recovered from a slow start to take a 14-0 lead, but the Faribault Falcons turned to the ground and scored four second-half touchdowns to claim a 32-21 non-conference win over the Trojans Friday at Faribault.

New Prague scored twice in the first half, on a 1-yard run by Chase Buthe and a 29-yard pass from Sam Dittberner to Jon Schoenecker. Faribault scored late in the first half to cut the Trojans' lead to eight points, then scored three times in the second half to take a 26-14 lead with less than five minutes left.

Sam Dittberner scored on a 59-yard scramble to cut the lead to five with 4:24 remaining, but Faribault iced the game on a 24-yard run with 2:12 remaining.

The Trojans will regroup for their Missota Conference opener Friday, Sept. 5, at home against Shakopee. The Sabers opened their season Friday with a 22-12 win over St. Paul Central, snapping a 12-game losing streak. Game time is 7 p.m. at Trojan Field
