Trojans get top seed in Section 1A
New Prague’s girls hockey team ended its regular season with a loss to last year’s State Class A champion, Holy Angels, Friday at Richfield Arena.
The win gave the Stars an unbeaten record (14-0-0) in the Missota Conference. The Trojans finished second (11-3-0), their best finish ever in the conference.

Section playoffs
New Prague received a bye in the Section 1A playoffs, drawing the top seed. They will begin their quest for a third straight section title Thursday, Feb. 9, when they host Waseca at 7 p.m. The Bluejays are the No. 9 seed, and defeated No. 8 Northfield Tuesday in the tournament’s opening round.
If the Trojans win Thursday, they travel to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter for a section semifinal game. The championship game is Thursday, Feb. 16, also at Gustavus.
Trojans 4, Sabers 2
New Prague scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Kacy Ambroz scored at 6:12, from Jenna Kilpatrick and Courtney Sivula; then Kilpatrick scored at 15:30, from Breanne Hrabe.
Shakopee closed the gap to one when a Trojan skater was called for covering the puck while in the crease. The resulting penalty shot made it a 2-1 game.
Sivula opened the third with a power play goal, from Kilpatrick and Ambroz, at 4:57. Kilpatrick got an unassisted goal at 7:38.
Shakopee outshot the Trojans 35-32. Daedra Culshaw stopped 30 shots.

Holy Angels took a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter and then held on as the Trojans fought back to try to tie the game.
The Stars scored two goals in the first period and one early in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Kilpatrick got the Trojans on the board at 6:24. But the Stars made it 4-1 a short time later.
New Prague made it 4-3 when Kilpatrick scored unassisted, on a power play at 13:57.
New Prague pulled to within one when Sivula put in the Trojans third goal at 3:19. New Prague tried to tie the game for the next 14 minutes, but were turned back.
The Stars outshot the Trojans 33-25. Culshaw made 29 saves.
