Trojans girls run 6th in opening meet
The New Prague Trojan girls cross country team kicked off its season Friday, Sept. 2, at the Dakota County Classic.
New Prague finished sixth of 11 teams, with the Trojans doing a good job of pack running. The seven Trojan runners all finished between 29th and 48th place, and were within 35 seconds of each other.
Senior Lauren Schoenbauer set the pace for the Trojans, finishing 29th in 13 minutes, 16 seconds. That was four seconds better than eighth grader Maria Berg (32nd, 13:20). Elisa Johnson, a ninth grader, was next (34th, 13:23) followed by Natasha Jendersee (41st, 13:40), Korey Wilson (42nd, 13:40), Maria Friedges (43rd, 13:41) and Courtney Kotek (48th, 13:51).
Lakeville South dominated the meet, scoring 35 points. Eagan was next with 64, followed by Apple Valley (95), Forest Lake (101), Eastview (163), New Prague (178), Richfield (213), Hill-Murray (216), Hastings (244), and Simley (287).
