Trojans girls topple Bengals

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team hosted Blaine Friday, Dec. 29, and closed out the old year with their best showing of the season, topping the visiting Bengals 69-47.

Emily Russo led the Trojans with 23 points, 14 of those in the second half. Amanda Giesen added 16 and McKenzie Holgate had 12. Also scoring were Emily Schmitz (8), Brooke Buthe (6) and Emma Anderson and Jillissa Schoenbauer (2 each).

The win upped New Prague’s record to 4- 8. The Trojans were scheduled to face Kasson- Mantorville Tuesday, Jan. 2, and will travel to Victoria Friday, Jan. 5, to open their Wright County Conference schedule against Holy Family Catholic. The Trojans host Orono on Tuesday Jan. 9.
