Trojans lose tourney opener
The New Prague girls hockey team lost its first round game 5-2 to Rogers in the Black Friday tournament Friday afternoon at the New Prague Area Community Center. Rogers got the game's first goal, but the Trojans tied it on a goal by Hallie Paschke late in the first period. New Prague trailed 3-1 when Emily Culshaw scored. Both Trojan goals were assisted by Shannon Meyer. The Trojans had a number of opportunities to score in the third period, but were stopped cold by the Royals, who scored twice in the last five minutes to put the game away.
Dodge County and Robbinsdale Armstrong play in the other first round game Friday. New Prague (1-3) faces the loser Saturday at noon, while Rogers takes on the winner at 4 p.m.
