Trojans stumble at Northfield

For the second straight week, the New Prague Trojans football team took a lead into halftime, only to see it slip away due to turnovers and mistakes in the second half.

The Trojans lost to Northfield 21-18 Friday at Northfield.

The Raiders' got the game's first score early in the second quarter, but the Trojans came right downfield and tied it at 6-6 on a 33-yard pass from Tim Stepka to Brad Weiers. The point-after was blocked. The Trojans' Nick Zweber scored twice on runs of one and three yards to make it an 18-6 game at halftime.

Northfield recovered a Trojan fumble in the third quarter and ran it back 50 yards for a score, then put together a big drive late in the game, scoring on a one-yard run with 4:35 left to take the 21-18 win.

New Prague hosts Farmington at 7 p.m. Friday in the Trojans' Homecoming game.
