UPDATE - Second tank shipment postponed
UPDATE - at 5 p.m., Chart Industries announced that the second of eight tank shipment scheduled for Tuesday night, Oct. 24, had been postponed by the logistics company handling the shipment. The next shipment is schedued for Wednesday night, Oct. 25.
The first of eight large tanks was moved from Chart Industries in New Prague to a river port in Savage Monday night/Tuesday morning, October 23 and 24. The tank, pictured turning a corner from Highway 21 to Highway 13/19, left Chart shortly before 10 p.m. and it took roughly two hours to make its way through New Prague before heading along Highway 13 to Savage, where by 5:30 a.m. it was loaded onto a barge. Workers from Hansa Meyer, a company out of Texas, are in charge of moving the tanks. The second trip will take place tonight (Tuesday) and the third one on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Five more tanks will be moved over the next two weeks. They are headed to Florida, where a private space exploration company will use them for fuel storage.
