Veterans service officer to speak at Memorial Day program

 

The Montgomery Memorial Day Program will be held on Monday, May 27. 
 
The program begins with a church service at Holy Redeemer Church at 8:15 a.m., followed by the Memorial Day Parade down First Street at 9: a.m. to the American Legion Club Post #79.
 
At the Legion, the program will start at 9:30 a.m. will feature guest speaker Jim Golgart, who is retired from the U.S. Army and who is the Le Sueur County Veterans Service Officer.
 
The Master of Ceremonies for the program will be Steve Flicek of the Montgomery Veterans Honor Guard.
 
The program will include music by the Tri-City United High School Band, John Grimm, and Taps.
 
The roll call for deceased veterans will be done by Robert Ruhland, Commander of American Legion Post #79 and Ed Keogh, Commander of VFW Post 5340. 
 
When the name of the deceased veteran is called, if you are a close relative, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, father or mother, please rise and a member of the American Legion or VFW Auxiliary will give you a poppy.
 
Kilkenny program
The Memorial Day program in Kilkenny will have the service members and veterans meeting at the  Community Building at 8:30 a.m.
 
Services will begin at 9 .m. at Sabre Lake Cemetery.
 
At Trebon Cemetery, services will be held at 10 a.m.  
 
At Kilkenny’s Calvary, services will be held at 11 a.m.
 
Following the services, a potluck will be held in the Kilkenny Community Building. The public is invited to attend.
