Vincent Wherley Jr.
Vincent W. Putzer Wherley Jr., 55, of Chaska, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 12, 1953, in Shakopee to Vincent Sr. and Joyce (Buesgens) Wherley, one of eight children. He was baptized, confirmed and attended the parochial school at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Chaska. On April 5, 1975, he married Susan Koehnen at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Vincent served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed at Minnesota Roadways, Shakopee as Shop Foreman/Mechanic, for 18 years. He was a lifetime member of the Chaska VFW and American Legion. His hobbies included restoring and showing his dad's tow truck (Grandpa Yogi), hunting, fishing, camping, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle. His main love was spending time with his granddaughter, Zoe, especially sledding and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Wherley Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Cindy Wherley and special friend Nathan Pieper of Green Isle; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Samantha Wherley of Belle Plaine; granddaughter Zoe Hanson; mother Joyce Wherley of Chaska; brothers and sisters Steve and Donna Wherley of Carver, Lawrence and Vicky Wherley of Odanah, WI, Thomas Wherley of Plymouth, Judy and Roger Carlson of Webster, Donald and Penny Wherley of Carver, Daryl and Terri Wherley of Plato, Kevin and Christine Wherley of Chaska; sisters and brothers-in-law Diane and Brian Helmer of Shakopee, Tom and Kathy Koehnen of Salem, MO; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 218 W Second St., Chaska, with Father Paul Jarvis celebrating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bertas Funeral Home, 200 W Third St., Chaska, with Prayer Service at 8 p.m. Casketbearers will be nephews, Andy Wherley, Jeremy Wherley, Tony Wherley, Aaron Wherley, Joshua Carlson, Clayton Carlson, Travis Wherley, Matthew Wherley, Chadd Wherley, Shawn Wherley, and Lawrence Wherley Jr.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
